The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra is a place where we can come together with other community members, to build friendships and enjoy playing a wide variety music. We are a non-audition group which means we are reaching out to those that are or who may have been part of music ensembles (such as junior high, high school or college) and are interested in performing again in an orchestra.
*Due to COVID-19 rehearsals are suspended at this time*
Rehearsals are on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of each month from 7-9pm, at the Saratoga Springs Public Safety Building 367 S Saratoga Road, Saratoga Springs, UT 84045, (building next to Patriot Park).
The Orchestra is currently accepting new members and would love to have more Strings. If you would like to join, Please email Dan Fritch, the director, to be added to the list and plan on coming early to our next rehearsal so we can get you setup with your music. Please contact Dan before coming, as sometimes the orchestra needs to change the rehearsal location.
For more information, we have a Facebook group (Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra). You are welcome to join at this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1509633232662037/
· You get to play a variety of great music
· There are only 2 or 3 rehearsals a month
· There is no cost to join
· You can make new friends by joining with others in performing music in a fun environment.
This is your chance to be part of our community orchestra and provide festive concerts for your family, friends, and community. Please don’t miss out on being a part of the orchestra this year. AND if you know of other talented family and friends that would love to perform in an orchestra with you, please invite them to join as well! We currently have about 50 members. This year we would love to double, if not triple, the number of string players!
What music will we work on?
Saratoga Springs Arts Council and other sponsors have again generously provided us with rehearsal space and with new music which includes:
- Jupiter (from the Planets)
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Beauty and the Beast
- Gabriel’s Oboe
- Go West
- God Bless America
- Let There be Peace on Earth
- Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Previously we have performed:
- Also Sprach Zarathustra
- Apollo 13
- New World Symphony Movement IV
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- 1812 Overture
We also invite members to help select their favorite numbers to perform with the group.
How much time is needed and what is the schedule?
We know you are busy so we try to keep the amount of time you spend to a minimum. Beyond your own practice time, we only meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of each month. All rehearsals are at the Saratoga Springs Public Safety Building from 7-9pm.
We ask that you attend at least 50% of all rehearsals and one of the final two to participate in the concert. However, we understand how busy many of you are and we are happy to work with you.
What level is the music?
Because we are a non-auditioned group, and due to limited rehearsal time, our music is about a Medium or level 3 or 4 (high school) level. However, this year we are going to start working on more advanced music throughout the year.
When and where are the concerts?
Our Splash Days Concert will be Monday, June 8th at Neptune Park and our Celebrate in Saratoga Holidays Concert is planned for Monday, December 7th at Vista Heights Middle School.
What is the cost to join?
There is NO COST to be a part of the orchestra. The City of Saratoga Springs and a few other sponsors have graciously provided funding for the music, concert venue, and rehearsal space again this year.
How Do I Sign up?
Please email Dan Fritch with the part you would like to play to be added to the orchestra roster.
What do I need to bring?
All we ask is that you come with your instrument, your music stand, and be ready to perform with others that love to learn fun music and perform together!
