[ARCHIVED] Dan McRae

Dan McRae

Daniel McRae (Dan) grew up in Bountiful, UT. He is the 2nd oldest with two brothers and 1 sister.  Together, they enjoyed small trips in the summer to places like Snowbird, East Canyon, Island Park, Park City, and Fish Lake. Dan started his is career in Bountiful with a paper route. He also had the opportunity to care for his grandparents’ yard, who over-paid him substantially, and worked on the sprinklers for Bountiful City Parks. As a kid, Dan wanted to be a Nascar driver when he grew up.

Dan met his wife, Rachel, at Utah State University where they both graduated, Dan in Civil Engineering. They have 4 awesome children with different personalities and interests, one boy, 3 girls who are all in either preschool or elementary school.

Dan has enjoyed riding and working on mountain bikes for almost 30 years. He rides a few times a week before work in the early mornings. He shares his love of bikes to his neighborhood bike shop in his home. When time permits, Dan does all kinds of repairs and service work including building custom carbon fiber bike wheels.

Favorites! Dan loves a good roast beef with gravy and mashed potatoes, steamed squash and carrots. He also loves the Coffee Shop Restaurant at Little America. Caribbean cruises and small weekend trips are his favorite and most memorable trips. He enjoys places around Utah like Moab, St. George, Snowbird, Island Park, the Utah National Parks and various hot springs around. If you couldn’t guess, his favorite sport is mountain biking and watching most motorsports. The Aggies are his favorite football team to watch.

After college, Dan and his family moved to Lehi in 2007 where he took a job at Civil Science and worked for 9 years doing transportation design engineering before coming to work for the City of Saratoga Springs. He has been at the City for 5 years now and has really enjoyed all the friends he has made. Dan is currently the Assistant City Engineer and says he works with a great group of engineers trying to keep up with the fast pace development and City infrastructure needs.  A lot of their time is spent helping private land development engineers create plans that function properly with the City standards, specifications, and masterplans.

If you need advice on where the best mountain bike trails are or need a bike repaired, Dan is your man.
